Desktop Connect App browser authentication behaviour

Hi,

We use the Desktop Connect App with Single Sign On (Okta). Since 3.1, Egnyte changed the authentication method to go via the browser.

The problem is that this causes the browser to launch a security pop up, requiring the user to Allow the pop up. Most users ignore this and therefore Desktop Connect App does not authenticate and map drive. We have hundreds of users, this is generating a lot of support issues.

Is anyone else struggling with this, and do you have any solutions?

Re: Desktop Connect App browser authentication behaviour

Hi @Matthew Green2

It sounds like this is in reference to Desktop App in a Windows environment. Are you able to verify if the [SSO] flag is enabled (value = 1) in the following Windows Registry path?

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Egnyte\Egnyte Drive\Drive0 (Drive Number could vary from 0 or higher depending on total number of mounted drives)

Also, please refer to the following help desk article for more information on the SSO flag: https://helpdesk.egnyte.com/hc/en-us/articles/216688268-Egnyte-Connect-Desktop-App-for-Windows-Mass-...

Please feel free to contact our Support team at support@egnyte.com if you require further assistance with the SSO authentication flow with Desktop App 3.1.x or higher.

Regards,
Nars
