Get link and share from windows file explorer like DropBox for OLC and ELC

This is a feature that exists on the PLC level that is awesome. http://www.egnyte.com/assets/images/illustrations/desktop-integration.png

It would be great if this also worked for those in the OLC and ELC deployments. For medium to large firms the PLC is just not the right deployment method. This will be even more important going forward for us as we intend on deploying virtualized desktops. Windows file explorer is still the preferred method for navigation at our firm so permitting more of Egnyte's feature set being made available directly in windows is huge.

Hi Taylor - We have your feature request in the roadmap. Currently we use smb mount to access OLC/ELC share from Explorer or Finder, however for sharing the link from OLC/ELC menu we need a client that can add extended attributes to foldes/files through Exploer or Finder. We are currently evaluating options.

Thanks,

sriram

Hi Sriram, I would like to add to this. Would it not be possible to have an Engyte explorer option to Share files which would then take you to the Egnyte site to add the groups or users? It's strange that there is an option to generate a share link but not share a folder with groups or users.

Hi Neal,

Thanks for your feature request. With PLC, we display folders using Windows/Explorer software.  The result from a technology standpoint is that we can create unique functions for files via PLC, but we are limited in the actions we can take on folders since folder display happens through your desktop software.

We will continue to explore what options exist that could facilitate folder actions in the future.
