Losing AutoCAD files when working through Egnyte Map Drive

Hi All,

https://helpdesk.egnyte.com/hc/communities/public/questions/200862974-AutoCAD-DWG-files-are-lost-whe...

This seemed to be addressed 2 years ago, I'm not sure if its been figured out yet. We are having the same issues. We are using Egnyte because we have several employees that work remotely. Here is the issue:

1) When someone is working remotely they are accessing autocad files through the Egnyte Map drive. When they are done they save the file and close autocad anticipating when they work from the office the next day the files will have sync'd with our Netgear NAS drive in the office.
2) Unfortunately we are finding that these files have dissappeard but a .bak file is left but no .dwg only on the Egnyte cloud server. The .dwg file on the NAS drive is the older unedited/un-sync'd version.
3) This is becoming disturbing and worrisome as we keep continually losing some work, not good for efficiency.

We chose Egnyte because it was one of the only cloud based servers to offer locked files similar to using autocad files on a local server. Unfortunately it seems this locking feature is the culprit for us losing these .dwg files.

Has anyone had these issues and fixed them yet?

I am having similar issue with Egnyte Storage Sync and AutoCad files. Only the .bak file is synched, while the .dwg file is not.

Re: Losing AutoCAD files when working through Egnyte Map Drive

We have had a good experience with AutoCAD/C3D using the Desktop Connect App with completely automatic file locking.

Also, as long as you sync the entire folder (Drawings,XREF and DREF folders) for offline access, the Desktop App uses differential file syncs instead of syncing the entire file every time.

We had rejected the Mapped Drive app client and Sync app client previously but are now very happy with the Connect App.

Re: Losing AutoCAD files when working through Egnyte Map Drive

Here's an example of our issue where the .bak file syncs, but the .dwg will not sync on autosave, or Qsave. Only when the file has been closed by the author will it synch. This occurs even though the local NAS time/date are updated by Qsave.

Re: Losing AutoCAD files when working through Egnyte Map Drive

To be clear, are you using the older Egnyte Mapped Drive client or the Storage Sync client on a ReadyNAS? Which client version?
