Storage Sync for VMware- Strange access issues

Storage Sync for VMware- Strange access issues

Jump to solution

I currently have the latest version of Storage Sync for WMWare installed and users access egnyte shares via a Citrix XenApp environment.

Only on server (Server 2012 R2 and XenApp 7.6) users RANDOMLY cannot access the ELC Shares. The drive becomes unavailable and if you try to manually access the share  users get the following error:

You do not have permission to access \\share\location Contact your network administrator to request access.

The server is fully patched and reboots daily. Oddly enough, the drive randomly starts working and then stops. Has anybody seen this issue before?

Hi,

Storage Sync is not compatible with terminal servers or shared servers including Citrix XenApp.  Please have your users access the Egnyte shares through a supported operating system (Windows or Mac).  The list of supported operating systems can be found in the Storage Sync Overview article on the HelpDesk.

Thanks.

Storage Sync is installed on VMWare and we are access the ELC Share through Server 2012 R2 w/ Xenapp. How is it no compatible? StorageSync presents an SMB share and the Server 2012 R2 client accesses the SMB share the storagesync VM is providing.

Hi,

Can you have a few users connect to the ELC share from a Windows or MAC machine without using any application. Meaning simply map the ELC Share using \\ipaddressofVM\ELC and enter the user credentials.

Honestly speaking, we have not had any such use case where the share is being accessed via another app.

The shares are being accessed via windows OS. \\SERVERIP\ELC\SHARENAME

It is just being access from a Windows SERVER OS and NOT a Windows Desktop OS.

Hi Alphaserve,

With Xenapp, multiple end-users connect to the same Windows Server 2012 host system. When such users map their network drive from their terminal instances to Storage Sync, it essentially translates to multiple network drive connections between the Windows Server and Storage Sync device. However Windows Server optimizes all these connections into a single SMB session with Storage Sync. This leads to incorrect behavior among these user-sessions.
