I hate to say this, but I have not heard about the progress on this issue yet. I did followup on the escalation ticket today and will write back as soon as I get any update on it.

We already have a support case open to track this. The support case will be updated as soon as the engineering posts an update on the escalation ticket.
Can they give us an estimated time on this? It has been so long already. Or anything like, they are still working on it or whatever the status is.
I have responded to the support ticket you had raised for this issue.
The issue with creating alias on MAC has been resolved in this version. I would recommend you to first upgrade the app on your MAC machine and test this. I have personally tested this on the latest MAC OS and it worked absolutely fine.

A colleague of mine was able to do it on our user's MAC. I believe it went through. The Egnyte desktop application might have updated itself automatically.
