Tag files classified as X with Protect

Jump to solution

Is it possible to Tag files classified as Sensitive or other by Egnyte Protect? If we could apply metadata to these files then we can configure mail solutions to watch for this tag and perform actions.

Custom metadata on a file is only viewable within Egnyte (from UI or API).

For metadata that travels with a file, this needs to be written to the document properties for the file (for Microsoft Office and PDF files). We are planning on adding the ability to write classification tags to the document properties of a file. We don't have a timeline yet, but will update you once we have an estimate for delivery timeframe.

When you ask about applying metadata to files, do you mean Egnyte Connect custom metadata? Or do you mean writing to the document properties of Microsoft Office or PDF files?

The ability to write Egnyte Connect custom metadata based on Egnyte Protect classification is a capability we expect to release in Q3 of this year.

Is the custom metadata readable when the files are no longer in Egnyte?

I want create a policy mimecast that checks file data and will hold emails that have been tagged as senstive by Egnyte Protect.
