New to Egnyte and overwhlemed

Jump to solution

Hi,

I have never been really involved in an online community, so if I ask for help and shouldn't, just let me know. I am moderately tech savvy, meaning learning complex programs like Egnyte is very hard for me without someone showing me first.

I have figured out how to upload files from my desktop to a folder on Egnyte, but I don't know how to do the syncing. I have also had NO luck trying to find out how to upload a folder instead of every file individually. I have hundreds of folders with thousands of files and having to open each folder and upload the files in groups is super time-consuming and cumbersome. Can anyone help with those two things? Once I get those, maybe I can figure out what to do next.

I guess a really important piece of advice is whether there is any place that explains all these steps in a way that even a dummy (like me) can understand.

Thanks!

Judy

With all of the new Technology and integrations it is very difficult to "keep up". Like you, I too am somewhat tech saavy, but it is very frustrating trying to make it work, without feeling like I have to go back to school to learn a new process, but we do.... Fortunately, there are courses specifically designed to teach us processes in the Egnyte University.

here are a few that might be helpful;

https://egnyte-university.egnyte.com/using-storage-sync

See the steps to set up a Storage Sync server with your Egnyte Connect domain.

https://egnyte-university.egnyte.com/syncing-active-directory-with-egnyte-connect

In this course we will walkthrough configuring Egnyte's AD Kit, which enables users and groups in Active Directory to be synced with Egnyte Connect.

Hope this helps.

Yes! I am 73 and working full time as the Broker/Owner of a boutique real estate brokerage. It seems like my life is spent on a learning curve!!

I really appreciate those links and will be checking them out today. One thing I would love to have is a Glossary of all the terms and initials and acronyms and what they mean. Many things most people would think would be just intuitive, but they are not to me.

Thanks!

Technology started passing me up years ago when my then teenage children asked for an MP3 Player for Christmas,.... I'm like, whats an MP3? Struggled ever since to keep up. Hang in there, lol.

@Judy Nu, Welcome to the community and thanks for reaching out! There are definitely a lot of capabilities in the product so it's easy to get a bit overwhelmed... you're not alone! As T_J_N mentioned, Egnyte University is the perfect resource for learning how to perform various functions within Egnyte. Thank you @T_J_N for stepping up and directing Judy_Nu to those!! Within Egnyte University, after learning some basics from the courses, the Quick Tips are a good place to learn how to use features or various tips and tricks of the product in about 30 seconds or less.

Unfortunately we don't have a glossary of terms (yet), but you can definitely post any questions you have here. Any question you have is probably one that someone else was afraid of asking so it will help others if you ask it. And the glossary of terms is a GREAT idea. We are looking into making one because I can see how that can benefit many users.

Thanks again for your post and once you get a chance to review some of the training courses, let us know how we can help.

Best,
- Julie
