We've recently announced the next evolution of Egnyte, the Egnyte Content Services Platform. Below, we've included some frequently asked questions to help you learn more about it.

If you have a question you don't see addressed below, comment and let us know and check back often for additional details as we respond to our customers' questions. 

 What is the Egnyte content services platform?

Instead of separate products, Egnyte Connect and Egnyte Protect, we will  be offering the full breadth of Egnyte’s capabilities under one, open framework: the Egnyte Content Services Platform. This will greatly expand the availability of our industry-leading security, privacy and governance solutions, and reflects our fundamental belief that security cannot be separated from content management (and vice versa).  In addition to the capabilities you already know and trust, the Egnyte Platform packages will offer new tools, APIs, and integrations that allow businesses to build a sustainable content ecosystem with Egnyte at the core.

What does this mean for Connect and Protect?

Current customers are familiar with Connect, our content collaboration product, and Protect, our content governance and compliance product. The features of Connect and Protect that our customers have come to rely on will be included together in the new Egnyte platform plans. These plans will be offered at varying tiers of product functionality and price points that your Egnyte team can walk you through to find the best fit for your specific business needs.

Why is Egnyte making this change?

We recognize that it is not possible to manage enterprise content without effective governance. Unstructured content (the files your users create and share) has become increasingly valuable as businesses have invested in content collaboration. But the increasing threat of data breaches, insider attacks, and compliance fines demand a new approach. Security, governance, and compliance have become critically important considerations for our customers. Egnyte understands the need for organizations to stay ahead of this change and is striving to meet that need by giving customers a single solution to organize and secure their content at the source. It is our position that the most responsible thing we can do to help our customers is to ensure that our solutions not only enable collaboration and discovery but also provide security, stability and support for regulatory compliance. 

How does this benefit Egnyte customers?

The Egnyte platform provides a clear path to managing the risk associated with the generation and storage of unstructured content: all the files that make your business run. It includes a high degree of baseline security to keep valuable content safe, and offers new ways to manage growing data stores. As new data privacy legislation is passed at the state, national, and global level, the Egnyte platform is able to adapt rapidly to meet compliance standards. Additionally, the plans offered within the platform are feature-rich, positioned to be customizable for key industries, and are easy to understand and choose from.

When will the current offerings change?

We will begin rolling out our new platform offerings after April 1, 2020. While at that time, Egnyte is changing the way we provide and communicate about our solutions, customers will not encounter any changes at this time. 

What does this mean for my pricing and contract?

Egnyte Platform plans and pricing will be available to new customers beginning  April 1, 2020. Customers will not be required to select a platform plan at this time. 

What if my contract renewal is coming up?

Egnyte platform plans will be available to new customers beginning on April 1, 2020. While existing customers will not be required to switch plans at this time, you can expect to receive more detailed information 90 days before the contract renewal date that walks you through your options.  If you are interested in moving to the Egnyte Platform, Egnyte’s customer service team will work with you to select the plan that best suits your organization's needs while clearly communicating any potential differences in cost or functionality.
