I have recently been told by Egnyte employees that Egnyte Connect client does not do Block level sync, that if a small change is made to a file, then the entire file must be synced every time.
Is this correct?
However, reviews on the Web think that Egnyte is using Block level Sync.
Excerpt: they state that Egnyte Connect uses Block level Sync in the section titled "Cloud Services That Use Block-Level Copying"
Can I get final confirmation that Block level Sync is not occurring with Egnyte Connect Desktop OSX and Win10 client apps?
Go to Solution.
If you sync folders for offline access in the Desktop App (see here - https://helpdesk.egnyte.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000087212) or use Desktop Sync, we do indeed use delta sync (or block level sync) to only push and pull the 'delta' of the modified file.
When accessing files / folders from the Desktop App which are not synchronized for offline access, we don't yet use delta sync though that is on our roadmap.
We have to use the Sync local option with all of our CAD drawings, XREF and DREF folders anyway so we are using the Delta method.
Thank you Kash!
