Edit in browser button in the preview of MS Office 365 documents opened fro
The desktop web preview of MS documents documents in Egnyte lacks a very basic option 'Edit in browser' to those who have Office Online as part of their 365 subscription.
I can see that this is possible when right clicking on Office documents in Egnyte once the 365 API is enabled, however seasoned users of 365 naturally click to open a document but then only have the option to 'Edit' using WebEdit.
Using WebEdit calls the locally installed Office program and automatically lock the document for editing by more than one user which is good in some instances, however when multiple users edit at the same time they open the document in Office Online and expect to see the same option of 'Edit in browser' inside the preview page.
Hope to see this omission corrected as soon as you can.
Thank you for writing to the community and we are extremely sorry that this post went unanswered.
We understood the issue you posted and this might not have been possible back then. However, now when the document is previewed, and you have Microsoft Office Online Integration turned ON, then you shall see the options to open in web-edit or office online. Please review the screenshot attached to this post.
We hope this is what you were looking for since a long time.

Yes, this is now sorted, thanks.
Wish there was a way to designate or force an Egnyte stored Office 365 document to only open in Office Online or only open in the desktop software, this is a basic option in SharePoint stored documents, the purpose for this is to hermatically limit the abillity of users to lock a specific document (forcing real time collaboration). Can save us a lot of headaches when users lock document by mistake because they opened the document in their Office desktop software.
I'd recommend submitting your suggestion into the Ideas board to get your idea in front of our Product team and where you can track the status of your idea in our roadmap, if it goes that route. If they need any specs on what you're suggesting, they can ask you directly there.
Best, - Julie
