Is there a way to configure egnyte to open links in finder/desktop sync?

When opening a linked file through a 3rd party (say Slack) the default is to open the file online as opposed through the desktop app.  Is it possible to change settings somewhere to open the file from the desktop app?

Re: Is there a way to configure egnyte to open links in finder/desktop sync?

Hello @dcg,

Thank you for reaching out.

Share links on Egnyte always open up in the web UI. This is the default behavior of those links. Currently, Egnyte does not offer a way to open such a file from the Desktop App.

Since you mentioned Slack, we also have a way to use Egnyte with Slack. There are many different things you can do using Egnyte for Slack. If interested you can browse through the link given below: - https://helpdesk.egnyte.com/hc/en-us/articles/114094823711-Using-Egnyte-for-Slack

Thanks.

We also have this problem during the use with Outlook. We use the same label for all user (we have a mixed environment with Windows and MAC). At the end we use some tools for Win and MAC to generate a UNC path for a file or folder and send this UNC path with Outlook. The receiver can then use the UNC path to open the file or folder independent which OS he uses.

Tools:

Windows: CopyPathMenu

MAC: SnagPath

You have to customize the tools as well Outlook to intepret the UNC path correctly.
