Searching in Egnyte Drive

Jump to solution

Some users are complaining about slow keyword searches in Egnyte Drive. Is there any way to speed this up? Would it help if we forced Windows 10 to index the Drive folders?

Hello,

Unfortunately, Windows file indexing does not work in any reliable way with Egnyte Drive. We do not cache files locally for longer periods of time (only when a file is opened).

Searching using Egnyte Drive depends only on your internet connection speed, as the search is being done by your computer. During the search, all folders have to be downloaded from the cloud, opened. The same thing happens for files - each file has to be at least partially download (in case of MS Office files - the entire file has to be downloaded).

Any searches you make within Egnyte Drive will always go over the network. If the search totally seems to fail, then I would suggest you submit a support ticket at support@egnyte.com and have a technician take a look at this.

Regards

Sagar
