What is the maximum number of files that can be synced using Connect Desktop App

Jump to solution

Dropbox recommends syncing fewer than 300,000 files to any one desktop.

Our company is going to migrate our file system from Dropbox to Egnyte this year, using Egnyte Connect Desktop Apps to sync to local machines. We currently have over 550,000 files in our Dropbox account.

Is there a recommended Maximum number of files to sync with Egnyte (I am not referring to sync for offline access, cloud only sync)?

Hello @Brian Beaton,

The Desktop App is primarily a cloud only application, as such it does not take your local drive space.

So if you have a 300,000/500,000 files on your cloud, then you should still be able to access them from the Egnyte Desktop App. The only limit you should not be hitting is 25k files/folder in one folder.

However, if you plan to sync all these files using the offline access feature on the Desktop App, then you would need to consider the local storage space available on that particular computer.

Thanks.
